[CDM Micro-credential] Minding the Gaps: Communicating Across Differences

Organizations today demand leaders who can communicate effectively with diverse teams. Are your communication skills helping you move forward—or holding you back?

Minding the Gaps: Communicating Across Differences is a six-week, online course designed for professionals who want to strengthen their leadership and collaboration skills in today’s diverse workplaces. Through interactive exercises, real-world case studies, and weekly live sessions with a facilitator with over 20 years of experience, learners will explore strategies to navigate cultural differences, build trust, and lead more inclusive teams.

The course equips professionals to:

  • Develop skills to identify and address communication barriers
  • Build inclusive practices that foster equity and collaboration
  • Strengthen leadership and teamwork in multicultural and multi-disciplinary contexts
  • Apply learnings directly to workplace challenges

Graduates receive a certificate of completion from the Centre for Digital Media, in partnership with Simon Fraser University and DigiBC.

Course Dates: There will be two offerings:

  • October 13 – November 24, 2025
  • January 26 – March 9, 2026

Course Details:

  • Format: Fully online, with weekly live Zoom sessions
  • Duration: 6 weeks (~5 hours per week)
  • Credential: Certificate of completion from Centre for Digital Media (in partnership with Simon Fraser University & DigiBC)
  • Registration: Takes place on SFU’s Continuing Education portal
