The Disability Screen Office (DSO) has launched Canada’s Screen Industry Survey on Disability—the first national survey designed to capture the experiences and perspectives of people with disabilities working in film and TV. They are partnering with Québec-based equity organization Coalition MÉDIA and have commissioned leading creative industries research firm Nordicity to undertake this study.
Whether you’re in the industry, hoping to break in, or have worked alongside colleagues with disabilities, your input is invaluable. The data collected will guide the DSO’s advocacy efforts and lead to the development of a Best Practices Guide to Disability Engagement in the Canadian Film and Television Industry.
Fill out the survey here: https://www.dso-orphe.ca/survey/
Survey closing date: June 30, 2025
Who should fill this out?
– People who work in Canadian film and/or TV and have disabilities or who experience barriers due to physical, mental, or learning conditions
– People who work in development, production, post-production, and distribution
– Individuals who want to work in the Canadian film and TV sector, but have not been able to enter the sector due to barriers
How long will it take?
The survey will take around 10 minutes to complete. It will ask you about your work, your disability, and how those two things interact.
What happens with my responses?
This survey is for the DSO, and it is being conducted by a research company called Nordicity. Your responses will be stored in the survey tool, anonymized, and analyzed by the Nordicity team. All the responses to this survey will be anonymous.
